Dragon Slayer CM of the Year: Thank You!:

I’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who voted me Community Manager of the Year, as well as those who voted Blizzard as Top Community Management Team! The Dragon Slayer Awards were presented at Dragon*Con in Atlanta, GA this past Sunday:

“Developed by Guild Launch and voted on by fans of online gaming, the awards sought to honor community builders, leaders and other contributors within the gaming community. Over 250,000 votes were cast and, in total, nine awards were given, accompanied by a unique ‘Dragon Slayer’ trophy.”

To be perfectly honest, I have no idea how I ended up a nominee in this category. There are so many incredible Community Managers here at Blizzard Entertainment with whom I work very closely everyday. I couldn’t motivate myself to do what I do without their support and friendship. (And it almost goes without saying that my fellow nominees are truly respectable as well.) I’ve never been honored like this before via any sort of award for my profession, so the surprise I felt from being included on the shortlist is rivaled only by how amazing it is to have just found out I won!

I wasn’t able to attend the ceremony this year, as I was busy doing what I enjoy most — interacting with the gaming community on a personal level from the floor of a convention. If only Dragon*Con and PAX Prime didn’t conflict! Even still, I need to give a special shout-out to World of Warcraft Game Designer Jonathan LeCraft, who was on-hand to accept the awards on Blizzard’s behalf. Jon, you’re a beautiful man.

The awards are being shipped our way and I’ll be sure to post a picture when they arrive. Until then… Just. Thanks. This is awesome. You’re awesome.
